Start the day with Water, from the Element Series by surrealist painter Michael Lawrence.

Water is a vivid, multi-layered exploration of feminine power and the metaphysical nature of water. At its center is Josephine Baker in her iconic banana dress, a symbol of bold femininity and liberation, celebratory and profound. A vibrant blue lake mirrors the silhouette of a mountain, figures in intricate attire share a silent dialogue, and an enigmatic mask hovers above symbolic artifacts resting on the water's surface. It is part of Michael Lawrence's Element Series and invites contemplation.

The mug:

  • 10 oz slim porcelain with a glossy white finish
  • The print stays vivid and keeps its luster through the microwave and dishwasher
  • Dishwasher and microwave safe

A small piece of surreal art for the morning coffee, and a gift with a story.

About the artist

Michael Lawrence

Michael Lawrence is a San Francisco surrealist painter who sees the true reality of life, not what people portray it to be, and paints his interpretation. His paintings are the kind you study in a museum, trying to work out what the artist was thinking and what inspired it.

Michael's works have been shown at the Harvey Milk Gallery, Gumps, Nordstroms, the deYoung Museum, Disney, and Warner Brothers. He has also held contracts with Disney Fine Arts and Warner Bros. to create porcelain figurines and collectibles. If you love Dali, Kahlo or Bosch, you will love his art.
