The Scorpion comes from The Bride, a striking painting of a contemplative figure draped in a flowing white garment, set against the architectural beauty of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. The figure's face is adorned with a membrane reminiscent of the movie Alien, and through the window a majestic mosque rises above lush greenery and blue sky, inviting reflection on the harmony between humanity and nature. Michael's interest in insects appears in the scorpions and locusts. Locusts can be an invasive species that causes famine by decimating crops around the world. Scorpions appear in Middle Eastern mythology, and their venom is destructive to humans and animals alike. Yet both are part of the world's ecology and the balance of nature.
