The baby was inspired by a Weekly World News article about the fattest baby in the world, and here stands for innocence and prosperity, wading in tranquil water beside a derelict ship marked with the Egyptian hieroglyph for eternity. In the foreground a small raft of men reels in a coelacanth, an ancient fish once thought extinct, while a locust flies overhead as a reminder of nature's creativity and destruction. The painting explores birth, rebirth and the transitory nature of existence.

The print:

Premium semi-glossy paper, 200 gsm (80 lb), 0.22 mm thick

The subtle shine enriches color and helps protect against fading from light and moisture

FSC-certified or equivalent paper

Printed and shipped on demand in the size you choose

Available in 29 sizes in inches (US & CA) and cm (rest of the world). Original surreal art at a poster price.

About the artist: Michael Lawrence is a San Francisco surrealist painter who sees the true reality of life, not what people portray it to be, and paints his interpretation. His paintings are the kind you study in a museum, trying to work out what the artist was thinking and what inspired it. Michael's works have been shown at the Harvey Milk Gallery, Gumps, Nordstroms, the deYoung Museum, Disney, and Warner Brothers, and he has held contracts with Disney Fine Arts and Warner Bros. to create porcelain figurines and collectibles. If you love Dali, Kahlo or Bosch, you will love his art.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1012/5813/3868/files/ecb4740f-14e5-4ab5-883e-b076f7f00731.png?v=1789504954
https://michaellawrencefineartandstudios.art/products/fat-baby-ii-by-michael-lawrence-semi-glossy-premium-poster
